The launch of Bowmore 9 Year Old offers the perfect introduction to the luxurious world of Bowmore. Its components have been matured for at least nine years in carefully selected American oak casks (ex-bourbon), European oak Oloroso sherry butts and puncheons, before being skilfully blended together.

The result bears all the hallmarks of a true Islay single malt – rich, sweet wood, fruit and spices, alongside dramatic peat smoke and phenolic notes.

• Nose: Apple-sweet sherry with deeper notes of damp currants, cocoa and a hint of rising peat smoke.
• Taste: Like raisins dusted with cinnamon, sprinkled with sea salt and enjoyed by a peat fire.
• Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with waves of subtle smokiness carrying a lingering sweetness across the palate

Bowmore can look back on a history spanning almost 250 years, with many milestones that have led this outstanding distillery and its whiskies to their current reputation. As part of the commitment to this development process, the desire arose to showcase the full spectrum of what Bowmore has to offer in terms of flavour. In this context, a new boutique collection featuring four new whiskies was launched to support this core objective and offer existing and new Bowmore enthusiasts a wider selection and greater variety.

The Bowmore Sherry Oak Cask Collection demonstrates the significance of the very finest European sherry casks in developing and defining the depth and flavour that both complement and emphasise the brand’s characteristic style. Each of the four whiskies captures different dimensions of character and represents the ability to create layers of flavour that is embedded in Bowmore’s DNA.

• Bowmore 12-Year-Old Sherry Oak Cask draws on an intense variety of aromas to create a distinctively harmonious character. Sweet spices and nuttiness come to the fore, whilst the smokiness blends harmoniously with the fruity and woody notes of the sherry casks.
• Bowmore 15-Year-Old Sherry Oak Cask captures the elegance of our single malt and adds a touch of sweetness derived from selective maturation in first-fill Oloroso casks. Confident and rich, with natural smoke and minerality alongside a woody, sweet and fruity finish.
• Bowmore 18-Year-Old Sherry Oak Cask delivers a long-lasting, dramatically complex yet balanced character. Maturation in sherry casks, beginning in Oloroso casks and finishing in Pedro Ximenez casks, adds a fresh sweetness with bright fruit notes without overpowering the brand’s signature smoky aromas, which transport you to Islay.
• Bowmore 21-Year-Old Sherry Oak Cask reveals a multi-layered character. The time and careful selection of maturation, first in Oloroso casks and then in Pedro Ximenez casks, enhances the intensity and complexity, yet in complete harmony.
