The story of Disaronno begins in 1525 in Saronno, Italy, when the painter Bernardino Luini, a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci, painted the fresco of the Madonna in Saronno. It is said that he fell in love with a young innkeeper’s daughter, who, in gratitude, gave him an amber-coloured amaretto. This legend forms the basis for Disaronno’s unique recipe, which remains a closely guarded secret to this day. Over the centuries, Disaronno has become one of the best-known and most popular amaretto brands in the world.
