The Weingut Markowitsch has its roots in Austrian winegrowing culture and is situated in the small village of Göttlesbrunn, in the heart of the Carnuntum region. The Markowitsch family has been dedicated to winegrowing for several generations, and under the leadership of Gerhard Markowitsch, the winery has developed into one of the most respected estates in Austria. Gerhard Markowitsch took over the business in the 1990s and set himself ambitious goals from the outset: to produce wines that can compete on the international stage whilst reflecting the character of their origins. With a clear focus on quality, sustainability and innovation, the Weingut Markowitsch has since made a name for itself both nationally and internationally.

The Carnuntum region, situated east of Vienna, offers ideal conditions for viticulture. The climate is characterised by warm, dry summers and mild autumn days, which allow the grapes a long ripening period. The soils consist of calcareous loam, gravel and loess, which lend the wines a distinctive minerality and finesse. The Weingut Markowitsch cultivates its vineyards with the utmost care to fully exploit the potential of this unique terroir. In doing so, the winery relies on natural cultivation methods that support the preservation of soil fertility and the promotion of biodiversity.

The Weingut Markowitsch is renowned for its expressive red wines, particularly the Blaufränkisch and the Zweigelt, which embody the typical characteristics of the Carnuntum region: power, structure and elegance. The ‘Rubin Carnuntum’ is the winery’s flagship wine and epitomises the high quality of the region’s red wines. In addition to red wines, the Weingut Markowitsch also produces excellent white wines, such as Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, which impress with their freshness, clarity and complexity. Every wine from the Weingut Markowitsch is vinified with the utmost care and reflects the commitment to quality and attention to detail that is evident at every stage of the production process.

The red wines from the Weingut Markowitsch are characterised by deep fruit aromas, spicy notes and a fine tannin structure, which lend them power and ageing potential. The Blaufränkisch impresses with aromas of dark berries, plums and a hint of chocolate, whilst the Zweigelt delights with juicy cherry fruit and spicy notes. The white wines are characterised by their freshness and vibrancy: the Grüner Veltliner displays the peppery notes typical of this grape variety, accompanied by citrus fruits and a mineral finish. The Chardonnay, on the other hand, offers an elegant combination of ripe fruit aromas and a delicate, buttery texture. These wines pair superbly with a wide variety of dishes, from Austrian home-style cooking to international specialities, and are ideal for festive occasions or simply for enjoying on their own.
