Unicum is one of Hungary’s best-known liqueurs and has gained worldwide recognition. The brand has won numerous awards and is a symbol of Hungarian craftsmanship and tradition.

Unicum is presented in its iconic spherical bottle featuring a red cross on a white background – a design that has been in use since 1883 and underscores the brand’s recognisability.

Unicum is produced through a combination of maceration and distillation of the herbs, followed by ageing in oak barrels for at least six months. This process gives the liqueur its characteristic dark colour and complex, bittersweet flavour.

Zwack places great emphasis on the quality of the ingredients and traditional production methods. The herbs are carefully selected and processed by hand to ensure the high quality and unique flavour of Zwack Unicum.

The history of Unicum began in 1790 in Budapest, when Dr József Zwack, personal physician to the Habsburg court, created the liqueur for Kaiser Joseph II. It is said that after his first sip, the Kaiser exclaimed: “This is a Unikum!” – and thus gave the drink its name.

• Zwack Unicum Szilva 34.5% ABV 0.7l: Enhanced with dried plums for a fruity note.
• Unicum Riserva: Aged in Tokaji Aszú barrels for a particularly refined aroma.
• Unicum Next: A more modern, slightly sweeter variant with citrus notes.
