El Ron Prohibido Solera 12 Blended Mexican Rum is an exceptional Mexican rum which develops impressive complexity and smoothness through its traditional Solera ageing process. This premium rum is produced using a historic method that dates back to the colonial era, when Spanish settlers transported rum from the New World to Europe in wine casks. This method inspired the production of ‘El Ron Prohibido’, which was at times banned in Spain due to its exceptional flavour – hence the name El Ron Prohibido (The Forbidden Rum).

Made from caramelised molasses, this rum undergoes a meticulous Solera ageing process over 12 years in former Spanish sweet wine casks, giving it its distinctive sweetness and aromatic depth. The result is a smooth, full-bodied rum with a seductive combination of sweet, fruity and spicy notes.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark mahogany with reddish highlights.

Nose: Intense aromas of raisins, dried fruit, vanilla and chocolate with subtle woody notes.

Palate: Full-bodied and velvety with notes of caramel, honey, roasted nuts, dried fruit and sweet wine.

Finish: Long-lasting, smooth and sweet with a hint of oaky spice and dark chocolate.

El Ron Prohibido Solera 12 is ideal for enjoying neat or on the rocks to fully appreciate its delicate flavours. It pairs perfectly with dark chocolate, caramelised nuts or vanilla desserts.
