Description
Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot and is now one of the world’s best-known champagne houses. Following the untimely death of her husband, François Clicquot, in 1805, his young widow, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, courageously took over the running of the business. Thanks to her innovative spirit and determination, she led the house to international success.
The merger with Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in 1986 further strengthened the brand. Veuve Clicquot remains true to its motto to this day: ‘Only one quality – the best.’
Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut Yellow Label is made from a harmonious blend of the three classic Champagne grape varieties. The cuvée consists of 56 per cent Pinot Noir, which gives the champagne its structure and depth. 28 per cent Chardonnay provides freshness and elegance, whilst 16 per cent Pinot Meunier contributes body and fruity notes.
This careful blend reflects Veuve Clicquot’s characteristic style and ensures consistently high quality. The dominance of Pinot Noir is typical of the House and gives the Brut Yellow Label its distinctive and balanced character.
Tasting Note
In the glass, Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut Yellow Label displays a radiant, golden-yellow hue with lively bubbles that emphasise its freshness and elegance. On the nose, a finely nuanced bouquet unfolds, featuring white fruits, ripe pears and apples, accompanied by delicate citrus notes and a hint of brioche, hinting at its long ageing on the lees. On the palate, the champagne is well-balanced and structured, with a harmonious blend of freshness and richness. The fruity aromas are complemented by hints of vanilla, toasted almonds and subtle mineral notes. The finish is long-lasting, lively and elegant, with a refined complexity typical of the House of Veuve Clicquot.

Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label is ideal as an aperitif, yet also shows its true class when paired with fine cuisine. It is particularly recommended with fine sushi, fresh oysters or scallops. It also pairs beautifully with creamy cheeses such as a mature Brie or Chaource. For those who prefer something a little more sophisticated, it can be served with a pan-fried guinea fowl breast with a citrus reduction or a light fish terrine. A Tarte Tatin with a hint of vanilla is recommended as a dessert pairing.
