Description
Grappa Julia Invecchiata 40% ABV 0.7l
Julia Invecchiata Grappa is an aged Italian grappa from Friuli, a region in north-eastern Italy with a long tradition of wine-making and distilling. It is produced from the grape pomace left over from winemaking, with Julia Invecchiata being made from selected grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. Once the raw material has fermented, distillation takes place using a column still, producing a clearly structured distillate. Its name ‘Invecchiata’ refers to the subsequent ageing process, during which the grappa is stored in oak barrels. Contact with the wood lends it additional depth and clearly distinguishes it from unaged, clear grappa varieties.
At 40% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, Julia Grappa Invecchiata combines traditional Italian pomace processing with a barrel-aged style. Whilst the different grape varieties form the basis for its complex character, the ageing in oak contributes significantly to its rounded structure and pronounced mature notes. This results in a grappa in which fruit, spice and wood are in perfect balance. Its origins in Friuli, the use of selected grape marc and the subsequent barrel ageing make Julia Invecchiata Grappa a classic choice for lovers of mature Italian spirits and an interesting alternative to young grappas without any oak influence.

Tasting Note
Colour: Warm gold to amber.
Nose: Complex and pleasant, with dried fruit, subtle vanilla and delicate hints of oak.
Palate: Full-bodied and round with ripe fruit, harmonious sweetness and spicy notes, accompanied by vanilla and delicately integrated oak notes.
Finish: Long-lasting and warming, with spicy oak, dried fruit and a pleasantly smooth aftertaste.
Grappa Julia Invecchiata is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat as a digestif after a meal and should not be served too cold, so that the flavours developed through oak barrel ageing can unfold. Culinary pairings include dark chocolate, dry biscuits, roasted nuts or mature hard cheese. This matured grappa can also be served in the classic Italian style alongside an espresso. For a tasting, it is also worth making a direct comparison with a young, unaged grappa to clearly highlight the influence of the oak ageing.
