The Quiet Man AN FEAR CIUIN 8 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey is an outstanding, artisanally crafted Irish whiskey, prized for its exceptional smoothness and depth of flavour. With an alcohol content of 40% vol. and having been matured for at least eight years in first-fill bourbon casks, this single malt offers a harmonious balance of sweet, fruity and spicy notes. The name ‘The Quiet Man’ (in Irish: An Fear Ciuin) pays homage to the father of the founder, Ciaran Mulgrew, who, as a barman, spent his life listening to others tell stories – whilst remaining a quiet connoisseur himself.

Distillation is carried out using traditional Irish craftsmanship in copper pot stills, which gives the whisky its particularly smooth character. Thanks to its maturation in ex-American bourbon casks, it develops a pleasant vanilla and honey sweetness, complemented by notes of ripe fruit, malt and gentle oak spice. Its exceptionally smooth and approachable style makes it an ideal choice for lovers of Irish whiskies seeking a gentle yet complex flavour experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: Brilliant gold.

Nose: Delicate aromas of vanilla, honey, ripe pears and subtle oak notes.

Palate: Smooth and sweet with malt, vanilla, honey, apple and subtle hints of spice.

Finish: Smooth, medium-length and slightly dry with notes of caramel and toasted oak.

This Irish single malt is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to allow its flavours to unfold. It pairs superbly with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or mild blue cheese. It also demonstrates its versatility in classic cocktails such as a Whisky Sour, Irish Manhattan or an Old Fashioned. For a special pairing, it can be served with an apple dessert or a slice of crème brûlée to bring out its sweet and malty notes.
