The Oban Little Bay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Small Cask is a characterful Highland single malt Scotch whisky, 43 per cent ABV, in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. It takes its name from the distillery’s home town: Oban roughly translates as ‘little bay’ and refers to the coastal town of the same name in the west of Scotland. The history of the Oban Distillery dates back to the late 18th century. Although the business initially began as a brewery, whisky was first distilled as early as 1794. A distinctive feature is its location in the heart of the town, which has grown up around the distillery over time, severely limiting its physical expansion.


Cask treatment plays a central role in the production of Oban Little Bay. Selected matured whiskies are blended together and then transferred to small oak casks for maturation. The closer contact between the whisky and the wood is intended to allow the character of the individual components to blend together particularly harmoniously. Little Bay combines the coastal character typical of Oban with fruity, spicy and subtly smoky Elements. This Small Cask Single Malt from the Scottish Highlands thus offers a unique interpretation of the traditional Oban style and is ideal for both experienced whisky connoisseurs and those seeking a well-balanced coastal whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold to amber.

Nose: Smoky and spicy oak, coffee and fresh citrus fruits, accompanied by a salty sea breeze.

Palate: Full-bodied and well-balanced with spicy oak, coffee, citrus fruits, sweet Christmas biscuits and a subtle hint of mint.

Finish: Long-lasting and characterfully dry, with fruity, spicy and subtly smoky nuances.

Oban Little Bay is at its best enjoyed neat at room temperature or with a few drops of still water, and is excellent as a digestif. With its maritime character, it pairs particularly well with savoury dishes such as smoked salmon, grilled fish, seafood or spicy hard cheese. As a sweet accompaniment, dark chocolate, nut-based biscuits or desserts featuring orange and coffee complement its fruity and spicy notes. This makes the single malt ideal for whisky tastings, a dinner featuring fish dishes or a relaxed evening of indulgence.
