Description
Description
"Cofradia" means unity, brotherhood and friendship.
The tequila distillery was given this name because – despite using modern technology – it insists on traditional methods in the production of its tequilas.
The distillery was founded more than 50 years ago in the state of Jalisco in Mexico, and today it produces up to 15,000 litres of tequila a day.
The blue agaves used in production take around eight years to grow.
Another key element is the clear mountain water from the surrounding area. The harvested agave hearts are first roasted in one of two special brick ovens, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks and finally distilled. The finished distillate is then either bottled straight away as young tequila or aged for up to two years in white oak casks.
To keep the temperature in the warehouses cool whilst maintaining humidity, the distillery has planted mango trees there. These prevent the barrel wood from drying out and the alcohol from evaporating too rapidly.
