Santos Dumont XO Elixir is a fine rum-based spirit renowned for its exceptional sweetness, depth and elegance. Named after the Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos Dumont, this luxurious elixir combines the exotic spirit of South America with the finest Danish craftsmanship. Made from selected Caribbean and South American rums, distilled from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, the result is a complex and harmonious spirit with a highly distinctive character.
Unlike traditional rums, Santos Dumont XO Elixir is not a pure rum, but a rum-based spirit refined with natural sweeteners and aromatic components. This gives it its unmistakably smooth, liqueur-like character with intense sweetness and a velvety texture. It is bottled at 40% ABV in Denmark by 1423 ApS – World Class Spirits, a renowned distiller that also produces brands such as A.H. Riise and Ron Esclavo.
Tasting Note
Colour: Deep amber-gold with warm, luminous highlights.
Nose: Expressive and complex, with notes of vanilla, honey, coconut and dried fruit.
Palate: Full-bodied, creamy and harmonious, with flavours of caramel, dates, subtle oak and an elegant sweetness.
Finish: Lang, smooth and refined, with lingering notes of vanilla and matured rum.
The Santos Dumont XO Elixir Liqueur pairs superbly with fine desserts such as crème brûlée, chocolate fondant or vanilla parfait. It also reveals its full potential when served with mature cheeses or nutty tarts. As a fine digestif, it is best enjoyed neat or slightly chilled to bring out its depth and complexity to the full.
