Description
Nikka Super Nikka Whisky Rare Old is an outstanding example of the art of Japanese whisky-making and comes from the renowned Nikka Whisky Company, founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the pioneer of Japanese whisky. This special bottling was created in the 1960s as a tribute to his Scottish wife, Rita, and to this day embodies the fusion of Japanese precision and Scottish tradition. With an alcohol content of 43% ABV and a harmonious blend of malt and grain whiskies, Super Nikka Whisky is a classic that impresses with its complexity and elegance.
The aromas characteristic of Nikka arise from the combination of distillates from the two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Whilst Yoichi is known for its slightly smoky, robust character, Miyagikyo contributes fruity and floral notes. The result is a finely balanced, smooth whisky with balanced sweetness, mild spiciness and subtle smokiness. Bottled in a distinctive 0.7-litre bottle and stylishly presented in a high-quality gift box, Super Nikka Rare Old is a real eye-catcher, not only in terms of taste but also visually.
Tasting Note
Colour: Pale gold with subtle amber highlights.
Nose: Delicate floral notes, subtle vanilla, dried fruit, malt and a hint of smoke.
Palate: Harmonious, slightly sweet with notes of honey, toasted wood, nuts and a subtle hint of peat.
Finish: Medium to long with elegant oaky spice and a gently smoky aftertaste.
Nikka Super Nikka Whisky Rare Old is perfect for enjoying neat – ideally at room temperature, to fully experience the delicate interplay of sweetness, smoke and fruitiness. It is also pleasantly mild and rounded when served on the rocks or with a few drops of water. In cocktail culture, it reveals its full potential in drinks such as the Japanese Highball, Whisky Sour or a sophisticated Boulevardier. Culinary pairings for this fine Japanese blended whisky include grilled salmon, smoked tofu, stir-fried vegetables or mild hard cheeses. The elegant gift box also makes it an ideal choice for special occasions or as a stylish present for whisky lovers.
