The Teaninich Distillery, founded in 1817, is one of Scotland’s oldest, yet least well-known, distilleries. Nevertheless, it has made a name for itself amongst connoisseurs, particularly through its innovative distillation method. Unlike many other Scottish distilleries, Teaninich does not use a conventional mash filter, but instead employs the so-called ‘Lauter Tun’ process, in which the solid grain components are completely filtered out. The result is an exceptionally pure, oily and almost grassy whisky that stands out distinctly from other Highland malts.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale gold with brilliant highlights.

Nose: Fresh, fruity, citrus zest, green apple, floral notes, a hint of grass and honey.

Palate: Slightly oily, crisp freshness, sweet maltiness, spicy ginger, vanilla, subtle pepper, delicate oak notes.

Finish: Medium-length, dry, spicy with lingering notes of lemon zest, grain and a delicate bitterness.
