Description
Glenturret is officially the oldest whisky distillery in Scotland, located in Crieff, Perthshire, and still in operation. In 1875, the distillery was taken over by Thomas Stewart and renamed ‘Glenturret’ from ‘Hosh Distillery’. The Glenturret Distillery prides itself on using traditional whisky-making methods, including floor malting, where the barley is turned by hand to ensure even germination, and the use of the same water source that has been utilised for centuries.
This whisky is matured in Spanish oak sherry casks, which impart rich and fruity flavours to the whisky. The Glenturret Sherry Cask Edition is a whisky with no age statement; however, it has been matured for at least 12 years and is bottled at 43% ABV.
Tasting Note
Colour: Light gold.
Nose: Sweet, with notes of honey.
Taste: Sweet, slightly malty.
Finish: Long-lasting.
