Description
D.Co Ulrich Amaro da Marolo is a unique revival of a classic Italian herbal liqueur based on the original recipes of the botanist Dr Ulrich. Dr Ulrich founded his company in the 19th century, which was one of the first in Italy to specialise in aromatic plants. In 1854, he laid the foundations for a tradition that played a leading role in the herbal industry for decades. Today, the Marolo distillery is bringing back this historical heritage and has reinterpreted and refined the D.Co Ulrich Amaro with 19 different herbs, fruits and roots.
With an alcohol content of 32% by volume, this amaro offers an exquisite balance of bitter and sweet flavours characterised by the complex herbal and fruity notes. After months of research and experimentation, this Amaro has been revitalised in its original form, while careful refinement and modern techniques have given it an even richer character. The D.Co Ulrich Amaro da Marolo is both an authentic delight for amaro lovers and a fascinating piece of Italian tradition.
Tasting Note
Colour: Dark, deep brown.
Nose: A multi-layered aroma of herbs, spices and a subtle fruity note. Aromas of dried fruit, citrus and a subtle bitter note come through.
Flavour: Full-bodied and balanced, with a harmonious blend of bitter herbs and a pleasant sweetness. The 19 ingredients unfold in a complex, slightly spicy flavour that is accompanied by a mild fruitiness.
Finish: Langs and pleasantly bitter, with an elegant herbal note that gently unfolds in the aftertaste.
D.Co Ulrich Amaro da Marolo is ideal on its own or on ice to fully enjoy the complex flavours. This Amaro also reveals its versatility in classic cocktails such as a "Negroni" or an "Amaro Sour". It is an excellent accompaniment to strong cheeses such as pecorino or blue cheese, which complement the bitter flavours perfectly. The Amaro also harmonises perfectly with savoury dishes such as grilled meat or spicy tapas. As a sweet accompaniment, Amaro is particularly suitable for chocolate desserts or fruity cakes, where the herbal notes of Amaro round off the flavour.
