The Auchentoshan 44 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1966 is an exceptionally long-matured bottling from the historic Auchentoshan Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands. The whisky was distilled on 25 April 1966 and subsequently matured for an impressive 44 years in a bourbon hogshead. A distinctive feature of Auchentoshan is its triple distillation – unusual for a Scottish single malt – which produces a particularly fine and elegant base spirit. During its cask maturation, which lasted more than four decades, the whisky continued to develop through continuous interaction with the oak and slow oxidation, without completely losing its original distillery character.

Bottled at 40.9% ABV, this Auchentoshan Vintage 1966 represents a historic era for the Lowland distillery and combines a precisely documented distillation date with an exceptional maturation period. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold to amber with warm highlights.

Nose: Elegant and multi-layered with ripe fruit, delicate vanilla and aged oak, accompanied by subtle floral and spicy nuances.

Palate: Finely structured and complex with ripe fruit, vanilla, gentle oaky spice and elegant woody notes.

Finish: Long-lasting, balanced and delicately spicy with notes of ripe fruit and lingering oak nuances.

Due to its great age and rarity, the Auchentoshan 44 Years Old 1966 is primarily intended to be enjoyed in its purest form and should be served neat at around 18 to 20 °C. If desired, a few drops of still water may be added; however, it is best to avoid serving such a historic bottling on the rocks. Mature hard cheeses, high-quality dark chocolate or unsalted nuts are suitable as subtle accompaniments, as they do not overpower the whisky. This bottling is particularly well-suited to special anniversaries, exclusive whisky tastings or as a collector’s item within a selection of historic Auchentoshan whiskies.
