Flaming Pig Whisky isn’t quite as ‘nice’ as Pig's Nose Whisky; its name literally translates as ‘flaming pig’. However, no pigs come to any harm during the production process. However, the name is a reference to the great whisky fire of 1875, when around 5,000 casks went up in flames and the liquid flowed down the streets of Dublin. It is said that the screams of a pig roused the sleeping residents, who then rushed to safety with their animals.

The Flaming Pig brand was launched in 2014 by Joey Shore and Flor Prendergast, the owners of the Malones Whiskey Company. Naturally, they chose the legendary Liberties district as their location, where the fire once raged.

Flaming Pig Black Cask Whiskey is created by blending Irish single malt and single grain whiskey. It is finished in first-fill bourbon casks that have been intensively charred. The charred wood imparts the desired smoky and toffee notes to the whisky, which make it so special.

Nose: Butter toffee, tropical fruits.

Palate: Smooth, spicy, nutty, sweet, vanilla.

Finish: Long-lasting, smooth.
