R74 Small Batch Alpine Rum is an exceptional rum, produced from sugarcane molasses and distinguished by its unique ageing and distillation processes. This rum is distilled using a double-distillation process in small copper stills, which gives it an exceptionally refined and complex profile. With an alcohol content of 40% vol. and a bottle capacity of 0.7 litres, the R74 Alpine Aged is a three-year-old rum that is matured in barrique casks previously used to age the Caldiff Gravensteiner apple brandy using the Solera method. This special ageing process in casks that have already absorbed the fruity character of the apple brandy gives the rum a unique aroma and depth.
The use of barrique casks previously used for apple brandy is a distinctive feature that gives the R74 Small Batch Alpine Rum its unmistakable fruity character, paired with the typical, robust sweetness of sugarcane molasses. This combination of tradition and innovation ensures a harmonious and intense taste experience. Colour: Dark gold.
Nose: Fruity, spicy, smoky, with notes of star anise, cinnamon and wood.
Palate: Aromatic, rounded, full-bodied, notes of vanilla, malt and molasses.
Finish: Long-lasting, bitter almonds, notes of plums, raisins and dates.
The R74 Small Batch Alpine Rum pairs superbly with a selection of mature cheeses, such as Comté or Gruyère. It also reveals its flavours particularly well when enjoyed with a piece of dark chocolate or an apple-based dessert.
