The Hampden Estate Distillery was founded as early as 1753 in Trelawny, Jamaica, and is one of the world’s most traditional rum producers. The sugar cane used comes from the distillery’s own Everglades Farms, allowing the distillery to maintain complete control over the quality of its raw materials. The molasses is fermented for an exceptionally long time using natural, local yeasts, resulting in the intense high-ester aromas typical of Hampden. Distillation takes place exclusively in copper pot stills, including stills from the Scottish manufacturer Forsyths, which shape the distinctive character of this rum. The Hampden Estate Rum 8 Years Old is then matured for at least eight years under tropical conditions in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. Jamaica’s warm and humid climate accelerates the cask maturation process and ensures an exceptional diversity of flavours. Only water from the estate’s own mountain spring is used to adjust the alcohol content to 46% vol. The rum is bottled without added sugar, colouring or glycerine, and is not sweetened, thereby fully preserving its original and authentic character. This uncompromising production process makes it a prime example of the traditional Jamaican rum style.

Colour: Natural gold with amber highlights.

Nose: Rich ester notes with raisins, sweet smoke, cinnamon, dark cherries and plums.

Finish: Lang, full-bodied and fruity-spicy with lingering ester and oak notes.
