In the late 1990s, a group of friends had an ambitious plan to establish the first whisky distillery in Wales for over a century. Their aim was to create a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold. In 2004, on St David’s Day, this dream became a reality when Penderyn Whisky first saw the light of day. The distillery owes its uniqueness, amongst other things, to the copper still designed by Dr David Faraday, which features a special still pot. It is situated in the village of Penderyn, at the southern end of the Brecon Beacons. The pure spring water from the region plays a key role in the quality of the exceptional Penderyn whiskies.

Penderyn Rich Oak Single Malt Whisky is characterised by its maturation in carefully selected ex-bourbon and oak casks. Whilst the bourbon casks impart sweet vanilla and caramel notes to the whisky, the oak casks provide spicy and woody aromas.

Tasting Note

Colour: Rich gold with amber highlights.

Nose: Dark chocolate, cinnamon, peppery notes, fruit, green apples, mangoes, bananas, guavas.

Palate: Rich, complex, creamy, with hints of vanilla, oak, cinnamon, nuts and toffee.

Finish: Long-lasting, creamy, vanilla.
