Rum Nation Guatemala XO 20th Anniversary Edition 40% vol. 0.7 l + GB is an exclusive anniversary release launched to mark Rum Nation’s 20th anniversary, which impressively reflects the independent bottler’s philosophy. Only the finest casks of a rare and particularly expressive rum from Guatemala were selected for this limited-edition Guatemala XO rum. It is produced using sugar cane molasses in a modern column still, which ensures an elegant and clearly structured style.


Maturation begins for at least four years in ex-bourbon casks made of American white oak, under tropical conditions near the River Hondo, allowing the rum to develop its harmonious core character. This is followed by a 16-month secondary ageing in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks in Italy, where the cooler climate allows for a slow and controlled refinement. This two-stage ageing process lends this premium Guatemalan rum additional depth and complexity. Bottled in an elegant decanter and presented in a high-quality gift box (GB), this limited edition underlines its status as a special collector’s bottling with an international ageing concept.

Tasting Note

Colour: Mahogany.

Nose: Complex, with notes of honey, cane sugar, ripe dates, delicate vanilla, dark chocolate and raisins.

Palate: Rich and full-bodied, with flavours of sweet honey, butter biscuits, raisins, dates, dried plums and vanilla, complemented by a hint of toasted nuts and candied orange.

Finish: A long, elegant finish, accompanied by notes of sherry and liquorice.

This XO rum, matured in sherry casks, pairs particularly well with desserts such as crème brûlée, chocolate mousse or a moist date cake, as its sweet and spicy nuances are perfectly complemented. It also creates an exciting interplay when paired with mature hard cheese or nut-based biscuits. As a digestif following a substantial meal, it reveals its full depth. In the bar, this anniversary edition is also perfect for a Rum Old Fashioned with dark cane sugar or as a luxurious base for a sherry-infused signature cocktail.
