This 8-year-old single malt is first matured in traditional ex-bourbon casks before receiving its characteristic finish in particularly small Oloroso sherry octave casks. These special casks ensure more intensive flavour absorption and give the whisky its distinctive, dark and fruity depth. The result is a powerful, spicy and multi-layered Scotch that impresses with notes of dark fruit, chocolate and strong oak.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark copper with reddish reflections.

Nose: Deep aromas of sultanas, dates and dried figs, accompanied by dark chocolate, spicy oak and a hint of espresso.

Flavour: Full-bodied and intense with dominant notes of sherry, candied nuts, orange peel and a hint of caramel and nutmeg. A fine sweetness is combined with spicy oak notes.

Finish: Langs and warming with dark fruit, fine spices and a gentle hint of smoke and nuttiness.

The Darkness! 8 Years Old should ideally be enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to bring out its complex flavours in the best possible way. It goes perfectly with dark chocolate, mature blue cheese or nutty desserts, which complement its sherry notes wonderfully.
