La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Extra Dry 17% vol. 0.75 l is a premium creation by the renowned spirits maker Jean-Sébastien Robicquet and forms part of a vermouth Linie developed as a tribute to Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinye, King Ludwig XIV’s landscape architect. Each bottle bears the Fleur de Lys, the heraldic symbol of the French monarchy, thus highlighting its close connection to the history of Versailles. La Quintinye’s vermouths are based on wines and Pineau des Charentes, a regional speciality made from unfermented grape must and Eau-de-vie de Cognac from the IGP Charentais region. The Extra Dry variant uses 27 different herbs and spices, including wormwood, vine blossoms and a wide range of aromatic botanicals. The vermouth is then aged for twelve months in French oak barrels, which lends it additional structure and elegance.

Tasting Note

Golden amber in the glass. On the nose, tart, herbaceous notes of sage, basil, rosemary and lavender, complemented by aniseed, figs and citrus fruits. On the palate, it has a slender body with dry, bitter accents of green grapes, tart citrus fruits, eucalyptus and lavender, as well as a noticeable tannic structure. The finish is of medium length, fruity and herbally bitter, focused and long-lasting.

This Vermouth Royal Extra Dry is ideal for classic drinks such as Martini variations, dry highballs or aromatic aperitifs with tonic, soda or lemon zest. Served neat over ice, its herbal character comes through particularly clearly. Culinary, it pairs well with savoury tapas, olives, marinated vegetables, seafood dishes and mild cheeses.
