The Kavalan Ex-Bourbon Oak Cask Single Malt Whisky 46% vol. 0.7 l + GB is an elegant and finely balanced single malt whisky from the multi-award-winning Kavalan Distillery in Yilan, Taiwan. This bottling is essentially the ‘mellowed’ version of the powerful Kavalan Solist Ex-Bourbon, as it is diluted with the purest Kavalan spring water to a drinking strength of 46% ABV. As a result, the whisky is softer, rounder and even more harmonious on the palate, without losing any of its depth or complexity.


It is matured entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak, which lend it its characteristic freshness and complexity. Taiwan’s tropical climate intensifies the maturation process, enabling the whisky to develop an extraordinary richness of flavour in a shorter time. The result is a wonderfully clear, creamy and tropical-fruity single malt with notes of vanilla, coconut and delicate oaky spices – a quintessential expression of Taiwanese cask craftsmanship.

Tasting Note

Colour: Delicate, pale gold.

Nose: Fresh and clean with notes of tropical fruits, vanilla, coconut and a subtle spiciness.

Palate: Smooth, round and well-balanced with natural sweetness, vanilla, honey and delicate oak notes, accompanied by a creamy texture and fine balance.

Finish: Elegant, mellow and long-lasting, with vanilla, coconut and gentle spice lingering on the palate.

The Kavalan Ex-Bourbon Oak Cask is excellent served neat or slightly chilled to fully enjoy its soft sweetness and fruity freshness.
