The High West Double Rye is a unique blend of two different straight rye whiskeys that complement each other perfectly and offer an exceptional balance of spice, herbs and subtle sweetness. Produced by the High West Whiskey Distillery in Utah, this whiskey pays homage to the American tradition of rye whiskey and impresses with its intense yet harmonious flavour.

The combination of a young, strong rye (matured for 2 years) with an older, milder rye (matured for up to 7 years) creates an exciting depth of flavour. The younger whiskey brings fiery pepper notes and herbal spice, while the older rye brings soft vanilla and caramel flavours. With an alcohol content of 46% vol., the Double Rye! unfolds its flavours intensely, but remains smooth and well balanced.

Mash Bill: 95% rye, 5% malted barley from MGP; 80% rye, 20% malted rye from the High West Distillery.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber with golden reflections.

Nose: Spicy rye notes with hints of cloves, cinnamon, eucalyptus and a hint of mint.

Palate: Strong and complex with notes of black pepper, liquorice, honey, caramel and vanilla. The herbal spice combines wonderfully with a fine sweetness.

Finish: Langs, warming and pleasantly spicy with a mixture of herbs, spices and subtle oak notes.

The High West Double Rye! is ideal for drinking straight, but can also be enjoyed with a splash of water or on ice to bring out its flavours even better. It is also an excellent choice for classic Rye cocktails such as Manhattan, Sazerac or Old Fashioned, as its flavour and complexity enhance the drinks. Culinarily, it is an excellent match for smoked meat, spicy cheese or dark chocolate, as these flavours perfectly underline its spicy and slightly sweet balance.
