The Wachau, a romantic valley along the Danube between Melk and Krems, lies some 80 km west of Vienna and has been a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site since 2000. Thanks to its unique climate and particular soil conditions, the Wachau is famous for its wine and fruit growing. Alongside the characteristic stone terraces, apricot orchards in particular define the picturesque landscape. All products from the Wachau are homemade in the traditional artisanal way.
