FEW Immortal Rye with Eight Immortals Tea 46.5% is an exceptional whisky-based spirit from the USA, combining a robust rye base with delicate tea aromas. It is produced by FEW Spirits in Evanston, Illinois, a town with a turbulent history of Prohibition. The base is an American rye distillate, which is matured for at least three years in heavily charred oak casks. The matured base is then refined with cold-pressed Eight Immortals Oolong tea. This tea comes from the high-altitude Phoenix Mountains in China and brings floral, delicately tart and slightly toasted notes to the blend. This creates a unique fusion of American barrel ageing and Asian tea culture.

The name ‘Immortal’ draws on the legend of the ‘Eight Immortals’, according to which eight beings crossed a mystical sea to attain immortality. In terms of flavour, however, the focus is on the combination of robust rye spice, oak and oolong tea. With an alcohol content of 46.5 per cent, the FEW Immortal whisky-based spirit has sufficient body to allow both the spicy components of the matured rye base and the elegant tea nuances to unfold clearly. Finish: Long-lasting and dry-spicy with rye, oak and a subtle lingering hint of tea.

The FEW Immortal Rye with Eight Immortals Tea is particularly enjoyable neat at around 18 to 20 °C or over a large ice cube. It pairs well with smoked meats, tangy hard cheeses or roast duck, as their robust flavours harmonise well with the rye spice and the delicately tart tea notes. Dark chocolate, roasted nuts or caramel-based desserts also complement the barrel and roasted flavours well.
