Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 SISTEMA SOLERA La Doma is the first limited edition in the Heavenly Cask Collection and is available at 40 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. Also known as “The Taming Cask”, this special edition specifically highlights a particular aspect of the Zacapa ageing process. It is based on the well-known Zacapa 23 Solera, for which rums aged for varying periods are blended together. Zacapa uses Virgin Sugar Cane Honey – a concentrated sugar cane juice – instead of traditional molasses. Maturation takes place in the Guatemalan highlands at around 2,300 metres above sea level, where the lower temperatures allow for a comparatively slow development within the casks.


For the Zacapa La Doma Heavenly Cask, the rum is additionally finished in ex-American whisky casks. This type of cask is at the heart of the edition and particularly emphasises the interplay of fruit, sweetness and oak. The Heavenly Cask Collection comprises a total of four limited editions, each highlighting a specific type of cask from the Zacapa ageing process. As the first release in this series, La Doma offers a unique interpretation of Zacapa 23 and, due to its limited-edition status, is also of interest to collectors and connoisseurs of exceptional premium rums from Guatemala.

Tasting Note

Colour: Rich amber with mahogany-coloured highlights.

Nose: Fresh sugar cane, honey, pineapple, banana, vanilla and subtle oak notes.

Palate: Smooth and well-balanced with tropical fruits, honey, vanilla, caramel and subtle oak notes.

Finish: Long-lasting, smooth and harmonious with fruity, sweet and subtle oak notes.

Ron Zacapa 23 La Doma is at its best served neat at room temperature or with a large ice cube, and is excellent as a digestif. For savoury dishes, it pairs well with grilled beef, duck breast or mature hard cheese, which provide a robust counterpoint to the sweet, fruity character of the cask. Dark chocolate, caramelised nuts and desserts featuring banana, pineapple or caramel also harmonise very well with this edition. As the first release in the Heavenly Cask Collection, it is also particularly well-suited to special moments of indulgence or a Zacapa collection.
