The Benrinnes 15 Years Old FLORA & FAUNA is a characterful Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle, and forms part of Diageo’s coveted Flora & Fauna Collection. The Benrinnes Distillery was founded as early as 1826 at the foot of the mountain of the same name, Ben Rinnes, in Speyside, and is one of Scotland’s most historic distilleries. A large proportion of its production is normally used for high-quality blended Scotch whiskies, which is why original bottlings such as this one are comparatively rare. The whisky is matured for at least 15 years in oak casks, with sherry casks playing a significant role in shaping its character. These impart additional depth to the single malt, as well as elegant notes of dried fruit and nuts. A distinctive feature of the distillery is its historic, sometimes triple, distillation process, which gives the whisky a particularly robust yet balanced style.
