This Canadian rye whisky is made from 100 per cent rye and is distilled in traditional pot stills, giving it an intense and multi-layered flavour profile. It is matured for five to nine years in new, charred oak casks, which gives it its characteristic balance between spice, sweetness and oaky notes. Its 43% ABV perfectly highlights its powerful yet smooth character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with coppery highlights.

Nose: Intense rye spice, dark caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and subtle herbal notes.

Palate: Full-bodied and spicy, with notes of black pepper, toffee, malt, toasted wood and a hint of citrus freshness.

Finish: Long and pleasantly dry, with lingering rye spice, oak and a subtle honeyed sweetness.

LOT No. 40 Canadian Rye Whisky is an excellent rye for enjoying neat, but also reveals its full potential in classic cocktails. Its rye spice comes into its own particularly well in a Manhattan, Old Fashioned or Sazerac. Culinary, it pairs perfectly with grilled meat, mature Cheddar or dark chocolate with sea salt. It also cuts a fine figure as an accompaniment to smoky BBQ dishes or spicy fare.
