The 20-year-old Dictador Icon Reserve is also distilled from the fermentation of native ‘Sugar Cane Honey’ – that is, the honey-like sugar cane syrup which, unlike molasses, is an extract from fresh sugar cane juice – and is distilled partly in copper alembics and partly in steel tanks. The process involves column distillation. This results in a medium-bodied rum with a pleasantly aromatic character. Maturation takes place in American oak casks. This is the only way to ensure that all the secrets remain locked within the liquid’s aroma. Incidentally, Dictador rum is not sweetened, unlike many other ‘mainstream rums’ available today. Nevertheless, it possesses a delicate natural sweetness, which makes it particularly harmonious.

The 20-year-old Dictador won a Grand Gold medal at the Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition 2016.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep amber.

Nose: Rich and spicy aromas, dried seeds, roasted coffee notes, honey, toffee, oak.

Palate: Complex notes, caramel, cocoa, hints of vanilla, honey, hints of coffee.

Finish: Long-lasting, elegant, citrus fruits, oak.
