This premium bottling is produced by the historic Masahiro Distillery on Okinawa, Japan’s only subtropical prefecture. The distillery looks back on over 140 years of distilling tradition and combines Japanese craftsmanship with the island’s unique climatic conditions. Okinawa’s warm, humid climate accelerates the maturation process in the cask and ensures an intense interaction between the distillate and the wood. For this bottling, the pure malt whisky is matured for a total of 12 years, with the finishing taking place in selected Oloroso sherry casks. This cask maturation lends the whisky additional depth, elegant fruity notes and a harmonious spiciness, without overpowering the distillery’s smooth character.
