EL ALMA, which means ‘the soul’ in Spanish, reflects the essence of Zacapa’s finest rums, which mature in the high-altitude regions of Guatemala under unique climatic conditions. This special edition celebrates the craftsmanship and tradition that have made Ron Zacapa one of the world’s most prized rums.

This edition, a blend of rums of varying ages and flavour profiles, undergoes a second maturation in heavily charred American ex-whisky casks. Through this process, the rum develops its intense, toasted aromas, which harmonise perfectly with the volcanic environment of its origin and lend it its characteristic, deep flavour.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep mahogany with rich golden highlights, indicative of its long ageing in Solera casks.

Nose: Complex and alluring, with aromas of dark chocolate, toasted wood and sweet fruit, followed by subtle hints of spice and a touch of smoke.

Palate: The flavour is equally rich and multi-layered. Notes of caramel, vanilla and ripe dark fruits blend with cinnamon and nutmeg, rounded off by an elegant hint of oak.

Finish: Long and velvety, with a lingering sweetness and warm spiciness that rounds off the exquisite drinking experience.
