The Sibona GRAPPA RISERVA Botti da SHERRY is a premium Grappa Riserva from Piedmont, with an alcohol content of 44 per cent, available in a 0.5-litre bottle complete with gift packaging. The long-established Distilleria Sibona uses selected Barbera pomace from freshly harvested grapes, which is carefully selected during the grape harvest itself. Distillation takes place entirely on-site in copper stills under the supervision of experienced oenologists and master distillers. The grappa is then initially aged for an extended period in stainless steel tanks. Its actual wood ageing begins with two years in medium-sized barrels made of classic oak, creating a solid foundation for the subsequent special barrel finishing.

Afterwards, the Sibona Grappa Riserva Botti da Sherry matures for a further two years in sherry casks imported from Spain, which were previously used for ageing sherry. The total maturation time in wood thus amounts to around four years. Sibona deliberately applied this form of cask finishing, familiar from the world of whisky, to grappa, thereby developing a particularly distinctive Riserva. The influence of the sherry casks is particularly evident in nutty, dry and cocoa-like notes. The grappa is bottled in the distinctive 0.5 l Sibona graduated bottle, featuring a level indicator on the side and a pourer, and is presented in an elegant gift tin.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber.

Nose: Intense and distinctive, with subtle notes of walnuts and hazelnuts.

Palate: Elegant and captivating, with harmonious oak notes, nutty accents and the characteristic influence of the sherry casks.

Finish: Long-lasting and pleasant, with dried fruit and a subtle hint of cocoa.

The Sibona Grappa Riserva Botti da Sherry is best served at around 18 °C in a classic tulip glass or a balloon glass. This grappa pairs particularly well with dried fruit, walnuts and almonds, whilst chocolate and various desserts complement its nutty and cocoa-like notes perfectly. Mature cheese is recommended for a savoury pairing. Thanks to its robust, long-aged character, this grappa is also excellent as a digestif after a meal or as an accompaniment to a cigar.
