This Rhum Agricole is made from freshly pressed sugar cane juice and stands out clearly from classic Agricole rums thanks to its particularly powerful, smoky style. The name ‘Fumée Volcanique’ – meaning ‘volcanic smoke’ – alludes to the island’s volcanic origins and the rum’s characteristic smoky cask character.

What makes this bottling special is the intense toasting of the oak casks in which the rum matures. These casks are charred particularly heavily, which imparts complex flavours of smoke, spices, toasted notes and dark wood to the rum. Bottled at a robust 49 % ABV, the Fumée Volcanique is a true taste experience for lovers of full-bodied, dry rums – with no added sugar or artificial flavours.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow with a slight coppery sheen.

Nose: Full-bodied and expressive, with notes of smoke, toasted wood, fresh sugar cane, nutmeg and a hint of vanilla.

Palate: Dry, spicy and complex with flavours of caramelised sugar, coffee, smoke, black pepper and tropical wood.

Finish: Long-lasting, intensely smoky and warm with a mineral aftertaste and subtle spice.
