The Plantation Rum Barbados Single Cask Maury Wine Cask Finish 2011 is a top-class single cask rum that impressively reflects the craftsmanship and ageing philosophy of the Plantation brand. This rum was distilled in Barbados in 2011, initially matured for four years in bourbon casks and then finished for a further six years in Ferrand cognac casks in France. The final finish in Maury wine casks – a French sweet wine with intense fruitiness and depth – lends the rum a particularly complex bouquet. The ageing process follows the tried-and-tested ‘double ageing’ principle, whereby the first phase takes place in a tropical climate and the second under continental influence – a technique that was already in use in the 18th and 19th centuries and has now been perfected by Plantation.

This rum is bottled at a robust 48.1% ABV, without chill filtration, to fully preserve its aromatic richness and cask characteristics. The elegant gift box also makes it a sought-after collector’s item and a sophisticated gift for lovers of complex rums.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with reddish highlights.

Nose: Rich and inviting, with notes of ripe plum, honey, dried fruit, figs, toffee and a hint of oak smoke.

Palate: Full-bodied and elegant, with dark chocolate, caramel, spiced oak, Maury wine notes and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Finish: Long-lasting and velvety, with spicy fruit, a soft sweetness, a delicate tannic structure and a warm, complex finish.
