The Teeling Whiskey Dark Porter Small Batch Collaboration is a special Irish whisky release, created as part of the Small Batch Collaboration Series in partnership with the Irish craft brewery DOT Brew. The concept is based on the reciprocal use of casks: first, DOT Brew used ex-rum casks to mature the Teeling Aged Dark Porter. Once this maturation was complete, the casks – now imbued with the character of the dark beer – were returned to Teeling. There, they were filled with Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey, allowing it to absorb the characteristic flavours of the Dark Porter during its secondary maturation. As a result, this edition combines Irish whiskey-making with modern craft beer culture.


The unusual Dark Porter cask maturation brings, in particular, dark, roasted and malty notes to the well-known Teeling Small Batch style. Coffee, cocoa and dark chocolate meet brown sugar, hops and spicy notes. The Teeling Dark Porter Small Batch Collaboration is bottled at a robust 46% ABV and contains no colouring, ensuring that the cask’s character remains the focus. The collaboration with DOT Brew also highlights the experimental approach of the Teeling Whiskey Company, which regularly works with special cask types and collaborative partners. Presented in a 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box, this special edition will be of particular interest to enthusiasts of unusual Irish whisky finishes and craft beer collaborations.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark gold with warm amber highlights.

Nose: Fresh cocoa nibs, dark chocolate and muscovado sugar, accompanied by aromatic hop notes and subtle roasted aromas.

Palate: Full-bodied and malty, with roasted coffee beans, caramel and burnt brown sugar, complemented by dark chocolate and robust roasted notes.

Finish: Long-lasting and spicy, with black pepper, orange-chocolate and lingering hop notes.

The Teeling Dark Porter Small Batch Collaboration is particularly well suited to being enjoyed neat at around 18–20 °C, although a few drops of still water can further bring out the dark roasted and malty notes. It pairs well with dark chocolate, chocolate desserts with orange, roasted nuts or strong hard cheese. Desserts featuring coffee, caramel or brown sugar also complement the unusual Porter Cask character well. For a comparative tasting, this edition is particularly well-suited to be enjoyed alongside the classic Teeling Small Batch or a full-bodied dark porter.
