MacNair’s Lum Reek 12 Years Old Peated is a masterfully crafted blended malt whisky that combines the powerful smokiness of Islay with the elegant fruitiness of Speyside. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill-filtered, this peated whisky offers a deep, complex flavour profile that will delight both lovers of smoke and fans of multi-layered sherry cask notes.

Produced by GlenAllachie Distillers, under the guidance of renowned Master Blender Billy Walker, this whisky brings together carefully selected peated and unpeated single malts from Scotland, each matured for at least 12 years. The casks consist of first-fill bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry and red wine casks, which lend the whisky impressive depth, balance and smoky elegance.

The name ‘Lum Reek’ derives from an old Scottish saying, ‘Lang may yer lum reek’, which roughly translates as ‘May your chimney smoke for a long time’ – a symbol of warmth, hospitality and the good life.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber with coppery highlights.

Nose: Strong notes of peated smoke, accompanied by dark chocolate, dried fruit, honey and spices.

Palate: Full-bodied and rich with harmonious notes of peaty smoke, toasted nuts, sweet malt, dark berries and spicy oak.

Finish: Long and warming with lingering smoky notes, a subtle sherry sweetness and a hint of toasted caramel.

This smoky blended malt is perfect for enjoying neat or with a few drops of water to bring out its complex flavours even more. It pairs superbly with grilled meat, tangy blue cheese or dark chocolate. It also reveals its full potential when paired with a fine cigar or a strong espresso.
