This speciality from Oita Prefecture in Kyushu – a region renowned for its excellent shochu tradition – impresses with a smooth, harmonious texture and a clean flavour profile. Thanks to the traditional vacuum distillation process, Sanwa Iichiko Silhouette Shochu remains exceptionally pure and mild, whilst its delicate cereal and umami notes are perfectly balanced.

Tasting Note

In the glass, Sanwa Iichiko Silhouette Shochu appears crystal-clear with a slightly oily sheen. On the nose, gentle aromas of roasted barley, white pepper and a hint of vanilla unfold. On the palate, it impresses with a delicate balance of sweet malt notes, light spiciness and a subtle umami finish. The finish is smooth and dry, leaving a pleasant warmth with subtle hints of almonds and rice.

This shochu is extremely versatile and can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or with water (hot or cold). It pairs superbly with light dishes such as sashimi, grilled fish or tempura. It also reveals its delicate nuances to the full when served with sushi or yakitori. Alternatively, Sanwa Iichiko Silhouette Shochu makes a wonderful base for cocktails – for example, with soda and a twist of lemon for a refreshing highball.
