Tasting Note

In the glass, the Sanwa Iichiko Silhouette Shochu is crystal clear with a slightly oily sheen. Gentle aromas of roasted barley, white pepper and a hint of vanilla unfold on the nose. On the palate, it impresses with a fine balance of sweetish malt notes, light spice and a subtle umami finish. The finish is soft, dry and leaves a pleasant warmth with subtle hints of almonds and rice.

This shochu is extremely versatile and can be enjoyed neat, on ice or with water (warm or cold). It harmonises perfectly with light dishes such as sashimi, grilled fish or tempura. It also unfolds its fine nuances perfectly as an accompaniment to sushi or yakitori. Alternatively, Sanwa Iichiko Silhouette Shochu can be used as a wonderful base for cocktails - for example with soda and a lemon zest for a refreshing highball.
