Description
Description
Xoriguer Mahon Gin, a speciality from Menorca, the north-easternmost island of the Balearic Islands, is characterised by its traditional production method. In the capital, Mahón, this distinctive gin is distilled in classic, wood-fired pot stills. The process is based on brandy (eau de vie), with the gin being brought directly to the desired strength. After distillation, the gin is aged for a short time in American oak casks, which imparts unique flavour notes.
The selection of botanicals used for Xoriguer Mahon Gin remains a closely guarded secret, adding to the brand’s mystique and Faszination. This secrecy is part of the long history of gin, which has been produced on Menorca since the 18th century. It was originally produced for the British Navy, which was stationed on the island at the time.
The gin’s name is derived from an old windmill, which is not only a Menorcan landmark but is also proudly depicted on the gin’s label. This historical reference underscores how deeply rooted Xoriguer Mahon Gin is in the culture and history of Menorca.
