The Tomintoul Distillery is situated in the Scottish Highlands, within the Cairngorms National Park. Tomintoul was named after the village of Tomintoul, which lies near the distillery. The whisky distillery opened in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

The Cairngorms are one of the few places outside the Arctic to feature tundra landscapes. Sub-zero temperatures, combined with cold and windy conditions in winter, give rise to unique wild flowers and wildlife that thrive in this landscape during the summer. It is in this environment that Tomintoul TUNDRA is produced. The whisky is matured in American oak bourbon casks.
