The Glenfiddich ORCHARD EXPERIMENT Single Malt Scotch Whisky 43% ABV 0.7 l + GB is a creative release from the innovative Glenfiddich Experimental Series #05 and impressively demonstrates how new ideas and unusual cask maturations can shape the character of a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. This edition was developed by Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who travelled to Somerset in the south-west of England for this experiment. There he met Matilda Temperley, Master Distiller at the renowned Somerset Cider Brandy Company, whose time-honoured production of apple brandies provided the inspiration for this extraordinary cask maturation.


The starting point for the idea was Somerset Pomona, a distinctive spirit created from a combination of apple cider brandy and apple juice. This aromatic profile inspired Brian Kinsman to, for the first time, finish a single malt Scotch whisky in Somerset Pomona spirit casks. This unusual finish gives the Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment Single Malt Whisky a particularly fruity and lively flavour profile, reminiscent of a blossoming orchard full of apples and pears. This Glenfiddich Single Malt from the Experimental Series is bottled at 43% ABV with added colouring and presented in a stylish gift box (UK), which emphasises the experimental and modern character of this release.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow with warm amber highlights.

Nose: Fresh apple notes, pear, floral nuances and sweet malt with a hint of vanilla.

Palate: Fruity and lively with green apples, pear, honey, malt and subtle spice.

Finish: Medium-length and smooth, with fresh fruitiness and gentle sweetness.

The Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment Single Malt Scotch Whisky is ideal for enjoying neat, to fully experience the combination of classic Speyside single malt and the Somerset Pomona cask finish. This fruit-forward Glenfiddich whisky pairs particularly well with desserts such as apple tart, tarte tatin, pear-based desserts or crème brûlée. It also reveals its fruity and floral nuances particularly harmoniously when paired with mild cheeses or roasted almonds.
