The Porto Cruz Ruby Porto 19% vol. 0.75 litre is a classic port wine from Portugal, known for its intense fruitiness and lively style. This Ruby Port is produced by the traditional Porto Cruz port wine house, which is one of the best-known producers of port wine from the Douro Valley. This Porto Ruby embodies the typical character of young Ruby Port wines, which are appreciated for their strong colour, juicy fruit and accessible structure.

The grapes come from the famous Douro Valley, one of the oldest protected wine regions in the world. Various red grape varieties from the Douro are used for production, which are traditionally harvested by hand and carefully processed. After fermentation, the wine is fortified with brandy, which preserves its natural sweetness. The Ruby Port then matures for a comparatively short time in large wooden barrels or stainless steel tanks, which preserves its intense fruit and characteristic ruby red colour.

Tasting Note

A deep ruby red with bright reflections in the glass, the nose reveals fruity aromas of red berries such as raspberry and strawberry accompanied by floral notes, on the palate the port wine is intense and fruity with flavours of red berries and a harmonious sweetness, the finish is soft, balanced and long-lasting.

The Cruz Ruby Porto is an excellent dessert wine and goes particularly well with chocolate desserts, berry cake, chocolate mousse or fruit desserts. This port wine from the Douro also harmonises well with strong blue cheeses, mature hard cheeses or nuts. Served at around 14-16 °C, this Portuguese Ruby port wine unfolds its fruity intensity and pleasant sweetness in a particularly harmonious way.
