The Ardbeg ARDCORE The Ultimate Committee Release 2022 is a limited special bottling created especially for the Ardbeg Committee members. With an alcohol content of 46% vol., this Islay single malt whisky shows a rebellious and extraordinary side of the distillery. The special feature of this edition is the use of black, toasted barley malt, which gives it a particularly strong, almost punky intensity.

Ardbeg is one of the most traditional distilleries on Islay. Whisky has been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before John McDougall officially opened the distillery in 1815. The name "Ardbeg" comes from the Gaelic and means "little hill" - fitting for the distillery's location on the south coast of the legendary whisky region of Islay, which is known for its peaty and maritime-influenced whiskies.

With Ardcore, Ardbeg is launching a whisky that impresses not only with its intense peat smoke, but also with its almost punky spiciness and roastiness. The composition of toasted malt, earthy notes and dark spices creates a unique flavour that will delight fans of Ardbeg and exceptional Islay whiskies.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Fresh, floral, spicy, slightly savoury, smoked oranges, grapefruits, menthol, peppermint, chicory charcoal, coffee, herbs, freshly mown hay, slightly yeasty or bread dough-like.

Flavour: Spicy, tangy, notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, cardamom, biscuits, brittle, mint toffee, aniseed, cigar ash.

Finish: Langs, salty, mint, tannins and leather.

It is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water. Perfect as an accompaniment to BBQ specialities, grilled steak or spicy cheese such as a well-matured cheddar.
