Amarula Marula Fruit Cream is a South African liqueur characterised by its fruity, creamy taste. With an alcohol content of 17% vol. and a bottle size of 0.7 litres, it offers a unique taste experience. The liqueur is made from the fruit of the mystical marula tree, which is also known as the elephant tree and is mainly found in Africa. The small, oval marula fruits ripen from mid-January to mid-March and develop their unmistakable flavour and rich yellow colour during this time.

The production of Amarula liqueur begins with the harvesting of the marula fruits, which are then processed in special machinery. The pulp is separated from the hard seeds by rotating blades and the resulting fruit pulp is pumped into chilled stainless steel tanks. The fermentation of the marula rice takes place under conditions similar to those used in wine production, at a temperature of 18°C to 20°C. During this process, the natural fructose of the marula fruit is converted into alcohol. The resulting clear marula wine is then transferred to the distillery, where the final liqueur is produced.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold with a creamy texture.

Nose: Aromas of marula fruit, complemented by notes of vanilla and caramel.

Flavour: Full-bodied and creamy, with the sweetness of marula fruit and a mild, velvety vanilla note.

Finish: Langs and soft, with a fruity sweetness that lingers pleasantly in the mouth.

Amarula Marula Fruit Cream is ideal for drinking neat, ideally chilled or on ice. However, the liqueur is also ideal for use in cocktails such as Amarula Coffee or Amarula Sour. Amarula goes particularly well with sweet desserts such as chocolate mousse, tiramisu or fruit salads, which complement the fruity flavours of the liqueur perfectly. Amarula also provides an interesting and pleasant contrast to savoury dishes such as Asian or African cuisine.
