The Glencadam 13 Years Old Sauternes Wine Cask Finish Limited Edition 2008 is an impressive bottling from the Eastern Highlands that superbly captures the elegant style of the Glencadam Distillery, founded in 1825. As one of the few distilleries still operating on Scotland’s east coast, Glencadam is renowned for its clear, fruit-forward distillates, which are prized both for its own range and for use in blends. For this limited edition, the single malt was first matured in excellent ex-bourbon casks made of American oak, before the individual casks were masterfully blended and then finished in selected Sauternes wine casks from France. This combination blends the distillery’s pure distillate structure with the refined sweetness and complexity of French sweet wine. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill-filtered and in its natural colour, which impressively preserves the authentic character of this limited edition – limited to 3,042 bottles.


The Sauternes finish lends the whisky a flattering depth of honey, dried fruit, vanilla and delicate wine sweetness, which blends harmoniously with the floral freshness and creaminess of the Glencadam style. The combination of American oak, French sweet wine and the clean Highland distillation delivers a finely structured interplay of aromas with elegant balance and a long-lasting finish.
