In the late 1990s, a group of friends had an ambitious plan to establish the first whisky distillery in Wales for over a century. Their aim was to create a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold. In 2004, on St David’s Day, this dream became a reality when Penderyn Whisky was born. The distillery owes its uniqueness, amongst other things, to the copper still designed by Dr David Faraday, which features a special pot still. It is situated in the village of Penderyn, at the southern end of the Brecon Beacons. The pure spring water from the region plays a key role in the quality of the exceptional Penderyn whiskies.

Penderyn The Headliner Welsh Whisky is the ninth release in the renowned ‘Icons of Wales’ whisky collection and pays tribute to the prominent 20th-century social reformer, David Lloyd George. This limited edition impresses with its fascinating maturation process, which takes place in both Jamaican rum casks and ruby port casks. This unique combination gives the single malt a seductive blend of tropical fruit notes, sweetness and a subtle spiciness.

Tasting Note

Colour: Brilliant amber.

Nose: Sweet, spicy, with notes of red berries, strawberries, cream, cranberries, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Palate: Fruity, creamy, sweet, with notes of dried fruit, salted caramel, honey and pepper.

Finish: Long-lasting.
