The name ‘Non Plus Ultra’ symbolises the pursuit of the highest quality and derives from the Latin expression meaning ‘nothing beyond’ – a symbol of perfection and the limits of what is known. The La Galante edition is dedicated to the ship Santa Maria La Galante, on which Christopher Columbus once reached St Croix and the West Indies. This complex rum blend is based on carefully selected distillates from the Caribbean and Central America, which are matured in oak casks that previously held dessert and liqueur wines. This results in a particularly full-bodied, rounded and deeply structured spirit, characterised by floral and citrus notes.


Each batch of this A.H. Riise Non Plus Ultra La Galante is limited to a maximum of 2,000 individually numbered bottles and is presented in an elegantly faceted decanter and a high-quality gift box. The bottling has been awarded top marks by the International Taste Institute, thereby underlining its exceptional quality standards. Historically, this premium spirit pays homage to the significant sugarcane tradition of St Croix, where once over 200 sugar mills processed more than 30,000 acres of sugarcane, thus forming the basis for the region’s rum production.
