The name ‘Desmond’s Lime Juice’ was inspired by the naval surgeon Sir Thomas Desmond Gimlette.

In 1879, he joined the Royal Navy and, whilst at sea, invented one of the world’s most famous cocktails: the Gimlet.

The cocktail consists of equal parts gin and lime juice and contains enough vitamin C to protect sailors from scurvy on long sea voyages.

As the alcohol helped prevent bad tempers on board, he prescribed his drink twice a day.

Tasting Note

Colour: Pale green.

Nose: Fruity, tart, with hints of lime.

Palate: Intense, fresh, fruity, with hints of lime.

Finish: Long-lasting.

Lime Juice is ideal for mixing with vodka, gin, Schweppes or still water.

Lime Juice is not suitable for drinking undiluted. The mixing ratio should be at least 1:5.
